FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

How long does it take to charge the batteries?

Usually it takes 1 - 2 hours for an 85% charge and up to 3 hours for a full charge.

Do your batteries have a “Memory”?

No. We use lead acid batteries and they do not have a memory like other types of batteries. It is recommended however to fully charge the battery (usually over night) every 4 or 5 charges to keep the battery at its peak performance. NI-MH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) batteries are the only ones that have a “memory”.

When the battery runs low, will it die right away and I will be stuck out in the field?

No. Let me explain. The batteries we use are Lead Acid batteries and have regeneration abilities if you let them sit for a few minutes. Once the battery dies, then let it sit turned off for about 5 to 7 minutes. By sitting idle, the battery will recharge itself enough to get another mile or so of power. This can be repeated many times to get you back to a charger or on a trailer. Example, if you attempt to start your car and run the battery dead, if you wait about 5 min, you will have what seems like full power for a short time.

Do I need to change the oil?

No. Unlike internal combustion engines, no oil is needed for the engine. Electric motors replace the gas engine and use self lubricating bearings.

How long will a battery last before it needs to be replaced?

The batteries we use typically can last up to 10 years. Life span is related to the owners charging discipline.

How rugged is the battery and electric motor?

Surprisingly rugged. We have found the motors and batteries to be as rugged if not more so than the engines they replace. The batteries we use in most applications are military grade.

What is the typical maintenance cost and interval?

Wear parts will need to be replaced such as brushes and bearings at about 500 hours for higher performance units and up to 4000 for the general work units. This equates to several years in most cases. Typical part and labor costs range from $125 to $250.

What if I drive through high water?

Even if the unit you have purchased is not rated for submersion, as long as the vehicle is removed from the water it will return to normal operation. Note: If a non-submersible vehicle has been in water, it will require maintenance at your earliest convenience.

Will my Electric Vehicle have the same performance as its gas counterpart?

Typically yes. Different vehicles have different attributes.

Lower Cost

EVs generally cost less in total to own, operate and maintain than combustion-powered vehicles, even in cases where the initial purchase price is somewhat higher.

More Reliability

Electric motors have very few moving parts and don’t need fluids such as engine oil, anti-freeze or transmission fluid, so they require relatively little maintenance and are far less likely to leak. Excellent reliability means down time is less likely, too.

No pollutant Emissions

EVs emit no pollutant from the tailpipe, so they’re cleaner for the environment and better for everyone’s respiratory health.

EVs also run far more quietly than their combustion-powered counterparts which enhances worker health and comfort – a smart move in an era of rising medical costs.

Lower Overall Emissions

The overall emissions associated with using EVs are typically far less than the emissions from their combustion-powered counterparts.

Overnight Charging

Most EVs charge up at night when system wide demand for electricity is low. They tap existing generating capacity that is not fully used rather than increasing demand for new capacity.

Reduced Oil Consumption

Choosing EVs instead of combustion powered vehicles contributes to reduced dumping of engine oils into the environment and reduced U.S reliance on foreign oil.

Greater Flexibility

Choosing EVs instead of combustion powered vehicles lends to more possibilities like a completely submergible ATV.  If a waterway stands between you and your destination, why drive around it when you can drive through it!

All Seasons Electric Vehicles is an extension of All Seasons in Kenton, Ohio. All Seasons is a repair facility for all types of sport and utility vehicles ranging from snowmobiles to street bikes. You've already had the gas powered 4x4's, sport bikes and snow sleds.  You've changed the oil, worked on the hard starts on a cold morning.

In comes the all electric vehicle.  Simply convert your existing gas powered recreational vehicle into an environmentally cleaner electric vehicle and put all those issues behind you!  A cost effective conversion will keep you moving without a trip to the pump. Simply charge overnight and enjoy a long ride the following day.  The "up-time" is equal to or even greater than the gas powered version in most cases.

On the tabs to the right are some videos showing just a few of our conversions.  Some are for testing purposes and some just for fun!  You'll notice in every case that the electric version out powers in speed and torque.

It's no wonder that electric Vehicles are being researched online more than ever!

Current projects include the first ever full size HD truck conversion.  We are taking a 1999 Chevy 3500HD truck and completely changing it over to electric. This unit will be 3-5 times the power as the original diesel!  Also included in this conversion is a solar recharge unit that will assist in the recharging of the trucks batteries for a much longer range before a plug-in is required!
